RRO FINES HIT RETAIL GIANTS
Both Tesco and the Co-Operative Group have been fined recently for breaches of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 (RRO) in separate prosecutions. The RRO requires that the responsible person (in a workplace, the employer) carries out a suitable and sufficient fire risk assessment and acts on its findings.

RECORD RRO FINE FOR SHELL
Shell International Limited has received the largest ever fine under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 (RRO). The company was fined £300,000 and ordered to pay £45,000 in costs following two small fires in the space of three weeks in 2007 at the Shell Centre in London.
