The Health and Safety Executive is calling on employers to ensure that machinery has proper safety guards, following the prosecution of a company after a worker lost part of a finger in a workplace injury. Napier Brown & Company Ltd, of Normanton Industrial Estate, Normanton, was fined a total of £3000 and ordered to pay costs of £2446 at Wakefield Magistrates Court on Friday 21 November 2008, after pleading guilty to breaching the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 and the Management of Health & Safety at Work Regulations 1999.
