The EU’s Scientific Committee on Health and Environmental Risks (SCHER) says that indoor air may contain over 900 chemicals, particles, and biological materials that can have health effects. The SCHER recommends the evaluation of common sources such as candles, building materials, furniture, pets and pests, the use of household products, and conditions that lead to mould.
SCHER raises concerns over carbon monoxide, formaldehyde, benzene, nitrogen oxides, naphthalene, radon, lead and organophosphates.
