In BriefUpdate on biocidal products rules
The HSE has updated consultation on amending the Biocidal Products (Amendment) Regulations 2006. Biocidal products are used as disinfectants and preservatives as well as for pest control and other miscellaneous purposes.
The Biocidal Products Directive (98/8/EC) will ultimately regulate the supply of all biocidal products in the EU. HSE consultation back in March 2006 explained that the aim was to bring the amendments into force on 1 October 2006. However, the HSE since decided to bring the new regulations into force on 6 April 2007.
In response to questions about the scope of the requirements, HSE says that the provisions will not extend to product labelling or packaging, which are dealt with separately.
