TIPS ON COMPETENT HEALTH AND SAFETY ADVICE

HSE's inspectors sometimes encounter examples of bad advice (e.g. just plain wrong) and poor advice (e.g. dealing with trivial risks or creating excessive paperwork). The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations require employers to appoint '…one or more competent persons…' to assist them in meeting their duty of controlling risks.
